This event is being conducted in association with the Georgia Barbecue Association.  It is open to any team with at least one active GBA member.

 

  • Entry Fees:
    • $300 Cook Team Registration Fee (10×20 Space)
  • $200 Fee to Increase Cook Team Space to 20×40
    • Limited number of spaces
  • Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival will be held at Logan Farm Park on Friday and Saturday, May 7th and 8th. The Address is 4405 Cherokee St., Acworth, GA 30101 Please note that this is a location change from previous years. We are very excited about this new venue and the benefits that it will provide us.   • Teams may arrive beginning at 10am on Friday, May 7th. Please check in prior to set up.

  • Awards Ceremony Approximately 3:30pm on Saturday, May 8th
  • Friday Night Activities
    • Vendors will be onsite selling food as well as providing activities for the public for both Friday and Saturday. Cook teams are prohibited from selling food to the public. 
    • 8pm Concert
    • VIP table packages are available for purchase
    • Quiet hours will be from 12am – 6am
  • Ancillary Competition – No Cost To Participate
    • Mystery Meat – 6pm turn in time – $100 Prize
    • Sauce – 6:30pm turn in time – $100 Prize
    • Each participant will be provided with a food item at the 3:30pm cooks meeting. Using the item the participant can prepare the item anyway that they wish.
  • Tasters Choice Competition – These two competitions have the largest direct impact on our community. The funds raised thru taster tickets are used for multiple rotary charity events and community efforts.  Your support is highly encouraged and needed. 
  • Competition Rules
    • If you receive wings or butts you must participate.
    • Purchasing tickets by cook teams to stack their ticket count is not permitted.
    • Trading tickets with other cook teams is not permitted.
    • Provided meat is only allowed to be used for the event. Any remaining meat after the competition ends will then belong to the cook team.
  • Lord of the Wings – Primo Round Grill Prize
    • From 5:30pm to 8:30pm on Friday night there will be a people’s choice competition featuring chicken wings. Cook Teams must have Wings Available at 5:15pm
    • Each participating BBQ team will prepare their own special flavor(s) of chicken wings and the public will judge. Concert goers will be able to purchase a book of 4 taster tickets that includes one voting ticket. After sampling different team’s wings the taster will give the voting ticket to the team that they liked the best.
    • Each cook team is responsible for distributing the wings at their individual cook site.
    • The Team with the most voting tickets will be crowned this year’s Lord of The Wings.
    • The winner will receive a Primo Grill.
    • All teams will receive wings to assist you in the event. The wings can only be used for the Lord of the Wings competition.  Any team caught using the wings for anything other than the Lord of the Wings competition will be disqualified from the entire event. 
  • Saturday People’s Choice Pork – Primo Round Grill Prize
    • From 11:30am to 2:30pm on Saturday there will be a people’s choice competition featuring pork butt. Cook Teams must have Pork Available at 11:15am
    • Each participating BBQ team will be preparing their own pork butts and the public will judge. Festival goers will be able to purchase a book of 4 taster tickets that includes one voting ticket. After sampling different team’s BBQ they give the voting ticket to the team that they liked the best.
    • Each cook team is responsible for distributing the wings at their individual cook site.
    • The Team with the most voting tickets will be crowned this year’s People’s Choice Pork.
    • The winner will receive a Primo Grill.
    • All teams will receive butts to assist you in the event. The butts can only be used for the People’s Choice competition.  Any team caught using the butts for anything other than the People’s Choice Pork competition will be disqualified from the entire event.
