Our event is run in association with the Georgia BBQ Association.

This is a single weekend, open entry, BBQ event and the event follows GBA rules where applicable. This event is being conducted in association with the Georgia BBQ Association. Any team with at least one current GBA membership is eligible to compete.

ENTRY FEES

10′ x 20′ Cook Team space:

  • $200 until February 14th – Early Bird discounted price
  • $250 between February 15th-April 14th
  • $300 after April 15th – Late Entry

20′ x 40′ Cook Team space:

  • Add $200

Limited number of spaces.

COMPETITION RULES

  • Cook Teams may arrive beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 10th. Please check in at main shelter prior to set up.
  • Cook Team Meeting 3:00 PM on Friday, May 10th at the main shelter.
  • Competition Categories: PORK, RIBS, CHICKEN 
  • Each participant will be provided with a food item at the 3:00 PM Cook Team meeting. Using the item, the participant can prepare the item anyway that they wish.
  • If Cook Team receives Chicken Wings or Pork Butts, team must participate in Tasters Choice Event(s). Provided meat is only allowed to be used for event. Any remaining meat after the competition ends will then belong to the Cook Team.
  • Awards Ceremony at approximately 3:30 PM on Saturday, May 11th at the main shelter.
  • Saturday Turn In Times:
    • Chicken 9:45 AM – 10:00 AM
    • Ribs 10:45 AM – 11:00 AM
    • Pork 11:45 AM – 12:00 PM
  • Purchasing tickets by Cook Teams to stack their ticket count is not permitted.
  • Trading tickets with other Cook Teams is not permitted.
  • Vendors will be onsite selling food as well as providing activities for the public for both Friday and Saturday.
  • Cook Teams are prohibited from selling food to the public.

 

TASTERS CHOICE COMPETITIONS: Lord of the Wings & People’s Choice Pork

The Lord of the Wings & People’s Choice Pork competitions have the largest direct impact on our community. Funds raised through taster tickets are used for multiple Rotary charity events and community efforts. Your support is highly encouraged and needed.

  • If a Cook Team receives Chicken Wings or Pork Butts, Cook Team must participate. Provided meat is only allowed to be used for the event. Any remaining meat after the competition ends will then belong to the cook team.
  • Purchasing tickets by Cook Teams to stack their ticket count is not permitted.
  • Trading tickets with other Cook Teams is not permitted.

 

Friday: Lord of the Wings – Primo Grill Prize

  • From 6:00 – 9:00 PM on Friday, May 10th, there will be a people’s choice competition featuring Chicken Wings.
  • Cook Teams must have Chicken Wings Available at 5:30 PM. Each cook team is responsible for distributing the Chicken Wings at their individual cook site.
  • All Cook Teams will receive Chicken Wings to assist in the event. The Chicken Wings can only be used for the Lord of the Wings competition. Any team caught using the chicken wings for anything other than the Lord of the Wings competition will be disqualified from the entire event.
  • Each participating BBQ team will prepare their own special flavor(s) of Chicken Wings and the public will judge.
  • Festival-goers will be able to purchase a book of 4 taster tickets that includes one voting ticket.
  • After sampling different teams’ chicken wings, tasters will give their voting ticket to the team that they liked the best.
  • Cook Team with the most voting tickets will be crowned this year’s Lord of The Wings.
  • Winner will receive a Primo Grill.
  • VIP Dinner Table Reservations are available for purchase.
  • 8:00 PM FREE Concert
  • Quiet Hours: 12:00 AM – 6:00 AM.

 

Saturday: People’s Choice Pork – Primo Grill Prize

  • From 12:00 – 3:00 PM on Saturday, May 11th, there will be a people’s choice competition featuring Pork Butt.
  • Cook Teams must have Pork Available at 11:30 PM. Each cook team is responsible for distributing the BBQ Pork at their individual cook site.
  • All teams will receive Pork Butts to assist you in the event. The pork butts can only be used for the People’s Choice competition. Any team caught using the pork butts for anything other than the People’s Choice Pork competition will be disqualified from the entire event.
  • Each participating BBQ team will be preparing their own Pork Butts and the public will judge.
  • Festival-goers will be able to purchase a book of 4 taster tickets that includes one voting ticket. After sampling different team’s BBQ they give the voting ticket to the team that they liked the best.
  • Cook Team with the most voting tickets will be crowned this year’s People’s Choice Pork.
  • Winner will receive a Primo Grill.

 

MYSTERY MEAT COMPETITION

  • No Cost to Participate.
  • Mystery Meat turn in time: Friday, May 10th at 6:00 PM.
  • Each participant will be provided with a food item at the 3:00 PM Cook Team Meeting. Using the item, participant can prepare the item any way that they wish.
  • Two weeks prior to the event, the meat item will be shared with all Cook Teams.
  • Winner will receive a $100 Prize.
